Bayern face Augsburg derby, then UCL trip to Viking without Musiala

📰 Bayern Munich return from the international break with a derby at Augsburg followed by a Champions League trip to Viking. 📌 Key points 🏟️ Bayern visit Augsburg in Bundesliga matchday five on 10 October. 📈 Bayern are second on 10 points, two behind leaders Dortmund. ✈️ On 13 October they face Viking in Stavanger in the Champions League. 🩹 Musiala is expected to miss both games with a torn thigh muscle fibre. 🔜 Arsenal visit Munich in the Champions League on 21 October. 📝 What happened 🏃 With the squad scattered during the international window, Vincent Kompany paused team training until 6 October, with full preparations for Augsburg starting once the internationals returned. Bayern's Germany players followed individual programmes in Munich during the break. 🏟️ First up is the Bavarian derby at Augsburg's WWK Arena on Saturday 10 October, kick-off 3.30pm local time. Bayern have three wins and a draw from four league games, scoring 14 and conceding two, to sit second. Augsburg have made a strong start too and are fourth on seven points. 🩹 Jamal Musiala tore a muscle fibre in his right thigh during the warm-up for Germany's match against the Netherlands on 24 September. According to Sky Germany he needs three to four weeks, ruling him out of Augsburg and Viking. Konrad Laimer is also still rehabilitating. ✈️ On 13 October Bayern play Viking at the Lyse Arena in their second league-phase game. Bayern thrashed Bodø/Glimt 5-0 in their opener on 10 September, while Viking lost 3-1 at Stuttgart on 9 September. 📊 By the numbers • Bundesliga: three wins, one draw, 10 points (second) • 14 league goals scored, two conceded • Champions League opener: 5-0 v Bodø/Glimt 👀 What to watch 🔥 The derby — fourth-placed Augsburg want to keep their good start going at home. Coming straight after the break, Bayern's sharpness is the first question. 🧩 Life without Musiala — a key attacking piece is missing for both games, so how Kompany sets up his attacking midfield matters. 📉 The title chase — Bayern trail Dortmund by two points, and a slip in the derby could widen the gap. ✈️ Two from two in Europe — win in Norway and Bayern welcome Arsenal on 21 October with a perfect record. 🔭 Why it matters The first run of games after a break often shapes a season. Augsburg on the 10th, Viking on the 13th and Arsenal on the 21st will show whether Bayern can keep pace at home and stay near the top in Europe.
