Moyes slams 'very, very poor' Everton after 2-2 draw at promoted Hull
Post
๐ฐ Everton stayed unbeaten in six, but David Moyes tore into his side after a 2-2 draw at promoted Hull.
๐ Key points
โฝ Hull went ahead three minutes into the second half through Joe Gelhardt.
๐ Everton turned it round with a Dewsbury-Hall header and a Barry goal.
๐ค Mohamed Belloumi's 73rd-minute equaliser cost them two points.
๐ฃ๏ธ Moyes: "very, very poor", with defending "naive to say the least".
๐ Everton are unbeaten in six and provisionally fifth on 10 points.
๐ What happened
โฝ At the MKM Stadium, after a goalless first half, Joe Gelhardt put Hull ahead three minutes after the restart.
๐ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall headed Everton level almost immediately and then set up Thierno Barry to put them in front. Mohamed Belloumi levelled for Hull on 73 minutes.
๐ค Moyes said: "It looked really unlike us, the way we gave the goals away today, it was very, very poor." He called the performance "so far below our level" and the defending "naive to say the least". His decision to move Jarrad Branthwaite to left-back was also criticised by fan sites.
๐ฐ Asked about the Friedkin Group's decision to explore selling a controlling stake, he said: "I'm not giving the players any room for excuses because of what's going on."
๐ By the numbers
โข Everton: unbeaten in six league games, 10 points (provisionally fifth)
โข Hull City: 9 points, ninth
โข Goals conceded: around 48 and 73 minutes
๐ญ Why it matters
Six games unbeaten and a top-five place look good on paper, but the manager himself gave the performance a failing grade. With the club up for sale, Moyes is clearly trying to keep standards high in the dressing room, and the question now is whether he changes his defensive set-up for the next game.
