Villa replied two minutes later when Emi Buendia's deflected shot fell for Nicolas Jackson to finish. 🔄 Villa turned it around on 77 minutes, John McGinn's deflected strike coming from Manzambi's pass. But two minutes later defender Kristoffer Ajer burst through from deep and finished calmly to level again. In stoppage time Ibrahim Mbaye's shot from a tight angle could not produce a winner. 🎙️ Brentford head coach Keith Andrews praised 'the grit, the resilience' but admitted he was 'a tad disappointed' not to make more of chances in the last 10 to 15 minutes. Ajer joked: 'I closed my eyes and hoped for the best!' 🤕 Villa lost Matteo Ruggeri to a hamstring problem at half-time, with Ian Maatsen also injured and Aaron Wan-Bissaka filling in at left-back. Brentford's Kevin Schade went off with a shoulder problem. 📊 By the numbers • Brentford unbeaten start: six games (longest since 2006-07) • Villa this season: one win in six league games • Both equalisers: two minutes after conceding (12th and 79th minutes) 🔭 Why it matters Brentford keep up their surprise run in the top four, while Villa are making an unusually slow start under Emery and have yet to win at home.
