Glasner: Why can't Nottingham Forest become like Aston Villa?

📰 Oliver Glasner has held up Aston Villa as the model for Nottingham Forest, despite a slow start to the season. 📌 Key points 🗣️ Glasner asked: "Why shouldn't it be possible to become like Aston Villa?" 📉 Forest have five points from five league games. 🏠 He named home attacking play as the biggest area to improve. 🏟️ He called expanding the City Ground a first step. ✈️ Forest resume at his former club Crystal Palace on 11 October. 📝 What happened 🎙️ In an interview relayed by Sport Witness, Glasner said: "Why shouldn't it be possible to become like Aston Villa? Getting a taste of the Champions League, even if you might miss out on it again later." 🧩 He pointed to the long-term project Villa have built under Unai Emery, stressing the value of managerial stability — a message that also asks owner Evangelos Marinakis for patience. 🏠 He was frank about the work ahead: "We need to improve our attacking play, especially at home. We've only had one home league win in 2026 so far." 📋 Since replacing Vitor Pereira, Glasner has won at Villa and drawn with Liverpool and Tottenham, but Forest have lost at home to Leeds and Coventry. 📊 By the numbers • Five league games: W1 D2 L2, five points • Three points off eighth place • One home league win in 2026 🔭 Why it matters Forest's start has fallen short, but their manager is not lowering his sights. Asking to follow Villa's route is also a request for time and backing. Ending the home slump would give those words more weight. Forest visit Glasner's former club Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 11 October.
