Palace spoil Glasner's return with 3-1 comeback amid 'sacked' chants
Post
📰 Oliver Glasner's return to Selhurst Park ended in a 3-1 Palace comeback and a chorus of "sacked in the morning".
📌 Key points
⚡ Forest led after three minutes through Dan Ndoye.
🔄 Kamada, Lerma and Pino scored to turn it round 3-1.
📣 Home fans applauded Glasner before kick-off, then sang "sacked in the morning".
🏆 Palace beat Forest in the league for the first time in 14 years.
🗣️ Glasner took the blame: "Call it karma or whatever."
📝 What happened
⚡ It was Glasner's first return to Selhurst Park since leaving Palace for Forest in July. Dan Ndoye scored after three minutes, and Forest led most of the statistics, including shots.
🔄 Palace levelled on 41 minutes through Daichi Kamada's first Premier League goal for the club, and Jefferson Lerma headed them ahead in first-half stoppage time. On 59 minutes Yeremy Pino tapped in a rebound to end a 19-game Premier League goal drought. Walter Benitez made key saves from Liam Delap and Chris Wood.
📣 Sky Sports reports that the home fans gave Glasner warm applause before kick-off but sang "sacked in the morning" once Palace were in front.
🗣️ Glasner said: "Today it looks like it is just me who is responsible for this, call it karma or whatever. Nobody to blame for anything, the effort was there and the quality was there. This performance will give us confidence even if it feels strange with the result." Palace boss Pierre Sage said the game was "not about revenge" and that his side gave away too many chances.
📊 By the numbers
• Palace: 7 points from six games, 12th
• Forest: one win in six, 5 points, 14th
• Palace's first league win over Forest in 14 years
• Pino: 19-game Premier League goal drought ended
🔭 Why it matters
Glasner won the FA Cup in 2025 and the Conference League in 2026 with Palace but left after criticising the club's transfer dealings. Sage, who faced early talk about his job, gets breathing space by beating his predecessor, while Glasner's Forest, who he said could become "the next Aston Villa", have won just one of six and the pressure is building.
