Haaland reportedly eyes 2027 Spain move amid Arsenal and Real links
Post
๐ฐ Since Manchester City were found guilty on almost all of the financial charges, English outlets have been full of talk that Erling Haaland could head to Spain in 2027.
๐ Key points
๐ฃ๏ธ According to Football Insider, Arsenal and Real Madrid have contacted Haaland's camp.
๐ฐ The same outlet says City will not sell him cheaply, even if relegated.
๐งข Haaland is under contract until summer 2034, reportedly with no relegation clause.
๐ช๐ธ TEAMtalk says his camp sees 2027 as a possible exit date and prefers Spain.
โ๏ธ The backdrop: City were found guilty of 114 of 115 charges.
๐ What happened
โ๏ธ At the end of September the Premier League announced that an independent commission had found City guilty of 114 of 115 charges over financial rules. Sanctions, ranging from a points deduction to a recommendation of expulsion, will be decided at a separate hearing. City deny wrongdoing and plan to appeal.
๐ฃ๏ธ Soon after the verdict, Football Insider reported that Arsenal and Real Madrid had made contact with Haaland's representatives. It later said City would still demand a premium fee even in the worst case. Haaland signed a ten-year deal in January 2025 that runs to summer 2034, so City are under no pressure to sell.
๐ช๐ธ TEAMtalk reported that Haaland's camp has identified 2027 as a possible departure date and favours Spain, mainly Real Madrid and Barcelona, over Arsenal. Football Espaรฑa stressed that this is speculation about a preference: there is no confirmed release clause or club-to-club negotiation.
๐ On the pitch, Haaland remains at the heart of a City side that has won all five league games under Enzo Maresca.
๐ By the numbers
โข Haaland's contract: to summer 2034 (ten-year deal signed January 2025)
โข City's verdict: guilty on 114 of 115 charges
โข City's league record: 5 wins from 5, 15 points
๐ญ Why it matters
Haaland's future will hinge on the sanction. A points deduction might calm things down, but a harsher punishment could see Europe's giants move quickly. For now there are no confirmed talks, so the sanctions hearing comes first.
