Man City staff shocked by verdict language as Soriano 'embarrassed'
Post
๐ฐ The Telegraph has lifted the lid on the mood inside Manchester City after the club's 114-breach guilty verdict.
๐ Key points
๐จ Staff were reportedly shocked most by the commission's language.
๐ฃ๏ธ One employee admitted: "I never expected anything like that."
๐ผ Chief executive Ferran Soriano was described as "combative but embarrassed".
๐ Enzo Maresca and Erling Haaland returned to training on 8 October.
๐๏ธ City's first game since the verdict is at Liverpool on 11 October.
๐ What happened
๐ฐ Citing well-placed sources, The Telegraph reported staff reaction inside the club. One said: "The thing that has shocked me more than anything is the language the commission used to describe the club's conduct." Another added: "I'm not a worrier by nature but there's no ignoring this. We're all talking about it."
๐ผ Ferran Soriano was attending the 33rd European Football Clubs General Assembly in Copenhagen when the verdict landed, and sources described him as "combative but embarrassed".
๐ According to CityXtra, Maresca arrived at the City Football Academy on the morning of 8 October and gave photographers a thumbs-up, while Haaland arrived after midday with a double thumbs-up. It was the squad's first session together since the verdict.
โ๏ธ An independent commission found City guilty of 114 breaches of financial rules on 29 September, and the club lodged an appeal on 1 October. Sky Sports reports a sanctions hearing is expected before Christmas.
