Marco Silva said they had to respond with a home win – and, in the first match after a three-week international break, they did. ⚽ On 24 minutes Dahl took Pavlidis's pass and finished with his left foot. Benfica also hit the woodwork in the first half. 🔁 On the hour Silva sent on Fredrik Aursnes and Echeverri, and the change paid off: on 75 minutes Echeverri's pass was turned in by Sudakov to settle it. 🎙️ Portuguese outlet Observador headlined its review "Benfica have a coach and they have a team!", praising Silva's substitutions. 📊 By the numbers • Score: Benfica 2-0 Vitória SC • Goals: Dahl 24', Sudakov 75' • Benfica 19 points (2nd) / Porto 24 (1st) • Vitória SC: 5 points, 15th 🔭 Why it matters A day after posting rivals' refereeing clips and crying "VAR disgrace", Benfica answered on the pitch. But with Sporting a point behind, second place is far from safe. Their next league game is away at Santa Clara, still unbeaten this season.
