Barça rule out January loan for Hamza Abdelkarim, target 10-15 games

📰 Barcelona have turned down January loan offers for 18-year-old Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim and will keep him in the first-team squad. 📌 Key points 🔁 Several clubs offered to take him on loan, but Barça have decided he stays ⚽ His only action this season was a cameo late on against Rayo Vallecano 🗓️ The club want him to play 10 to 15 first-team games this season 🧢 He finished pre-season as the squad's top scorer 💰 He is on a first-team deal with a release clause above €100m 📝 What happened 🔁 According to Spanish outlet Sport, a number of clubs have asked about taking Hamza on loan in January. Barcelona's answer is already settled: he is staying. 🧢 Hansi Flick has been impressed by his training and believes daily work with the first team is better for his development than a loan, even with limited minutes. Hamza was Barça's top scorer during pre-season. 📈 So far his only competitive appearance this season came in the closing stages against Rayo Vallecano. The plan is to work him into the rotation as the fixtures pile up after the international break, with a target of at least 10 to 15 matches. 💰 Hamza arrived on loan last season before the move was made permanent, and has since been handed an improved first-team contract with a release clause of more than €100m. He has also scored his first goal for Egypt, and the club see him as a potential future number nine. 📊 By the numbers • Age: 18 • Target this season: 10-15 first-team appearances • Release clause: over €100m 🔭 Why it matters With Raphinha having been moved up to play as a number nine, Barcelona are not over-stocked up front. Rather than send Hamza out for minutes, they have chosen to develop him in-house. How many chances he actually gets in a busy run of fixtures starting with Getafe on 10 October will decide whether that call was right.
