Athletic fans to wear black for Unai Simón as Real Sociedad visit

📰 Athletic Club and Real Sociedad meet in the Basque derby at San Mamés on 1 November. 📌 Key points 🖤 Athletic fans will wear black to honour Unai Simón and José Ángel Iribar. 🧤 Unai Simón won the Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. 💪 Terzić says Sancet 'will be available on Sunday'. 📈 Real Sociedad are fifth on 19 points; Athletic have 12. 🎙️ Real Sociedad's Turrientes says there are no favourites. 📝 What happened 🖤 The '7 de abril-Aitor Paredes' supporters' group has asked fans to wear black to San Mamés, the colour Simón wore at the Yashin Trophy gala in honour of Iribar and Lev Yashin. Four supporters' groups will also hold a kalejira street parade with a band from 6.30pm before kick-off. 🧤 Terzić said nothing will change because of Simón's award and called him proof that a player does not have to leave Athletic to be the best in the world. 💪 Oihan Sancet, recovering from a left soleus injury, completed his first full training session. Terzić kept him back for the derby rather than the cup tie and said he 'will be available on Sunday'. 🎙️ Real Sociedad midfielder Beñat Turrientes told reporters: 'There are no favourites; it's going to be a difficult game, but we'll go for the three points.' 📊 By the numbers • Real Sociedad 19 pts (5th), Athletic 12 pts • Athletic beat Getafe 4-0 last time out • Real Sociedad beat Levante 2-1 (Turrientes scored) • Kick-off: 9pm Spanish time on 1 November (8pm UK) 👀 What to watch 🧤 The Yashin winner's derby — Simón plays in front of his home crowd as the newly crowned best goalkeeper in the world. 💪 Sancet's return — can the attacking midfielder lift Athletic's attack? 📈 A seven-point gap — a Real Sociedad win would make it ten; an Athletic win would cut it to four. ⚽ Both in form — Athletic thrashed Getafe 4-0, while Real Sociedad beat Levante 2-1. 🔭 Why it matters Basque pride is at stake, as well as league position for both a top-five Real Sociedad and a chasing Athletic. A San Mamés dressed in black should make for quite an atmosphere.
