Tevez says Man City move was revenge after Ferguson broke promise
Post
๐ฐ Carlos Tevez has described his move from Manchester United to Manchester City as 'revenge' on Sir Alex Ferguson.
๐ Key points
๐๏ธ Tevez told the story on Rio Ferdinand's podcast.
๐ค He claims Ferguson promised to make his loan permanent.
โณ 'He had up to six months to keep his word. And he didn't.'
๐ช Instead, he says, he started being left on the bench.
๐ต 'City, for me, was like a revenge,' he said.
๐ What happened
๐๏ธ Appearing on 'Rio Ferdinand Presents', hosted by his former United team-mate, Tevez spoke about the background to his 2009 switch to City. He spent two years on loan at United, winning the Premier League and the Champions League, but United did not pay the fee needed to make the move permanent.
๐ค According to Tevez, Ferguson told him: 'Carlos, now I'm going to pay out your contract and you're going to stay in Manchester.' When United signed Dimitar Berbatov, Ferguson allegedly said: 'I'm going to pay for Berbatov but you, don't worry, I'm going to buy you.'
๐ช 'I think that Ferguson had, from the day we talked, up to six months to keep his word. And he didn't,' Tevez said, adding that Ferguson then 'started leaving me on the bench'.
๐ต 'The other team, City, for me, was like a revenge. I didn't get back what I gave.' This is Tevez's own account; Ferguson's side has not commented.
