United in talks with Bruno Fernandes, €65m release clause a hurdle

📰 Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes have yet to agree a new deal, with salary, length and the release clause still on the table. 📌 Key points ✍️ United are discussing a new contract with Bruno Fernandes. 💶 Salary, length and a €65m release clause are the sticking points. 💰 Marcus Rashford's return on big wages has changed the pay structure. 🛡️ Lisandro Martinez is going through a similar process. 🔒 United hold a one-year extension option on both players. 📝 What happened 🗣️ According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, United and Fernandes's camp have not yet reached an agreement. It is not only about wages, but also the length of the deal and his current €65m release clause. 💰 Romano pointed out that Rashford coming back to United on a high salary has shifted the wage structure again. Even so, he said it is not yet time for United fans to worry. 🛡️ Martinez's contract also runs until summer 2027. Romano said United still believe in him as a leader and a top defender, and described the situation as under control. ⚽ Fernandes showed his value again this season with a hat-trick and an assist in the 5-2 win over Ipswich Town. 📊 By the numbers • Fernandes release clause: €65m • Current deal ends: summer 2027 (+1-year option) • 5-2 win over Ipswich: hat-trick + 1 assist 🔭 Why it matters With the captain and a defensive leader both negotiating, the outcome shapes United's plans for next summer. The talks are still at an early stage and there is time. United host Tottenham on 10 October and face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on 13 October.
