Leeds sweat on Bahoya ankle injury ahead of Arsenal trip
Post
๐ฐ Unbeaten Leeds face an injury worry before their trip to Arsenal after winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya hurt his ankle on international duty.
๐ Key points
๐ซ๐ท Bahoya came off after 35 minutes for France U21 against Luxembourg.
๐ฉน He was released from the squad before the Switzerland game with an ankle injury.
๐ France's coach said more tests are needed to know the extent of it.
๐ฆต Harry Wilson missed all of Wales' games with a thigh problem.
๐
Joe Rodon, out with a hamstring injury, is aiming for November.
๐ What happened
๐ค Bahoya started France U21's 3-2 win over Luxembourg on 4 October but was forced off after a collision in the 35th minute. According to L'รquipe, he had not recovered sufficiently and was withdrawn from the squad before the Switzerland game.
๐ France U21 coach Baticle said: "I cannot tell you exactly what the injury is; there will be further tests, but it is his ankle." Bahoya will now be assessed by Leeds' medical staff.
๐งพ The 21-year-old joined on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer and has made only one Leeds appearance. Inside Futbol reports that an obligation to buy for โฌ30m kicks in if he reaches nine appearances.
๐ฉบ Leeds have other concerns. Harry Wilson picked up a thigh injury before the Palace game and did not play for Wales, though he could return against Arsenal. Joe Rodon, who hurt his hamstring against Brentford, was given an eight-to-ten-week recovery window and is aiming for November.
๐ By the numbers
โข Leeds: two wins and three draws, nine points, unbeaten
โข Bahoya lasted 35 minutes against Luxembourg
โข Rodon's recovery estimate: eight to ten weeks
โข Bahoya obligation to buy: nine appearances, โฌ30m
๐ญ Why it matters
To keep their unbeaten run going, Leeds must get through their toughest test yet away at the champions. Losing both Bahoya and Wilson would narrow Daniel Farke's attacking options. Farke is due to update on his injured players after the break.
Leeds face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 10 October.
