๐ What happened
๐
Derek McInnes and 22-year-old South African centre-back Olwethu Makhanya took the September honours. Rangers won all four league matches, knocking Celtic out of the League Cup in the quarter-finals before winning 1-0 at Parkhead.
๐ก๏ธ Makhanya, signed from Philadelphia Union in the summer, played every minute of Rangers' five games in September, in which they let in just one goal.
๐ฃ๏ธ McInnes said: "It's pleasing to receive this award, but it is recognition of the collective effort of the players and staff." Makhanya thanked his team-mates and the staff for helping him settle in.
๐ According to Sky Sports, Rangers lost their first four games and went out of Europe to Jablonec, but have since won six in a row in all competitions.

๐ญ Why it matters
After a dreadful start, two wins over Celtic have transformed Rangers' season. They host Kilmarnock on 10 October, and a win would take them top of the table, at least for now, for the first time this term.
