Report: Frank McCourt in talks over a possible Marseille sale in 2027

📰 Speculation that Frank McCourt could sell Marseille has resurfaced, but nothing is confirmed. 📌 Key points 🗣️ Reporter Romain Canuti said talks are taking place over a sale. 🚫 No buyer or official timetable has been named. 🏛️ President Stéphane Richard relays the line that the club is not for sale. 📉 Analysis points to TV income and Champions League hopes falling short. 🤝 Some see a financial partner as more realistic than a full sale. 📝 What happened 📺 On the show Thomas parle Foot, Canuti said the information he has is that talks are going on. He named no buyer and gave no timetable. 🔍 Football Club de Marseille set out two reasons McCourt may be tempted: Ligue 1 TV rights failed to approach the €1bn a year he expected, and the reformed Champions League gives big clubs no guaranteed place. 🏛️ In September Richard said the owner was open to new shareholder partners, but no process had started and investors would be chosen very carefully. McCourt's advisers say he will speak when he has something to say. 📊 By the numbers • About €800m invested since October 2016 (FCM estimate) • Hoped-for Ligue 1 TV income of €1bn a year • A new Ligue 1 rights tender covers 2027 to 2032 • Sale talked about for 2027 🔭 Why it matters Marseille face a financial review, so who owns the club could shape squad planning. This rests on one reporter's comments and fan-site analysis, so it should not be treated as fact.
