⚽ Korea beat Uzbekistan 2-0 in Yongin on the 6th
🧠 Coach Moreno stuck with 4-4-2 once again
🏆 Son Heung-min's free-kick was his 59th international goal, making him the outright Korean men's record scorer
📈 The final record for the four-match run is W2 D1 L1
📝 What happened
🛏️ According to Newsis, after the Venezuela game on the 2nd the squad had a short overnight leave and rest, then reconvened at the Korea Football Park in Cheonan on the 4th. At his pre-match press conference on the 5th, Moreno said other teams had also had little preparation time and that Korea had to get a result.
⚽ The result was a win. Son Heung-min opened the scoring in the 6th minute, striking a free-kick he had won himself with his right foot, and in the 60th minute Oh Se-hun headed in Song Min-kyu's cross. Korea won 2-0 without conceding.
🧠 The much-discussed tactics stayed the same. Moreno used a 4-4-2 led by a Son Heung-min and Oh Se-hun strike partnership for the fourth game running. Kim Min-jae, who had been training individually, did not play, and Kim Tae-hyeon and Lee Han-beom played at centre-back.
📊 By the numbers
• Korea 2-0 Uzbekistan (Son Heung-min 6', Oh Se-hun 60')
• Moreno's four-match run: Ecuador 3-0 W, Uruguay 1-4 L, Venezuela 0-0, Uzbekistan 2-0 W
• Son Heung-min: 59 international goals (breaking Cha Bum-kun's 58)
👀 What to watch
🧠 Sticking with 4-4-2 — despite criticism over being outnumbered in midfield, Moreno did not change the overall shape, and answered with a result.
⚽ Son Heung-min's 59th goal — a single early free-kick rewrote the record for most goals for Korea in international football.
🩹 Kim Min-jae's absence — even without Kim Min-jae, the Kim Tae-hyeon and Lee Han-beom pairing kept a clean sheet.
📈 A change in momentum — they ended a two-game winless run and finished the four-match series with a win.
🔭 Why it matters
On the stage that would shape the first verdict on the Moreno era, Korea secured both a win and a clean sheet. According to Financial News, whether Moreno leads the team through to next year's Asian Cup will be finally assessed on the results of two friendlies being arranged as a Middle East trip in November.
