Marseille chief rules out Genesio exit: 'He's signed until 2028'

📰 Marseille have publicly shut down talk of Bruno Genesio resigning. 📌 Key points 🗣️ Sporting director Grégory Lorenzi denied the resignation talk to L'Équipe. 📝 Genesio is under contract until 2028. 😤 Lorenzi said he understands the coach's frustration but there is no internal rift. 📉 Marseille are 17th in Ligue 1 with three points from five games. 🗓️ Next up is a trip to Troyes on 11 October. 📝 What happened 🗣️ Speaking to L'Équipe, Grégory Lorenzi said: "A resignation? No, not at all. The coach has committed to us until 2028." He added that the club is looking ahead with Bruno and that "it isn't a topic". 😤 Genesio has made pointed public comments this season, which fuelled speculation about his future. Lorenzi said: "We can understand that he is annoyed because he feels there are some good things in what the team is producing. There is frustration, but that doesn't mean there is friction internally." 📦 Lorenzi also acknowledged the state of the squad: "We inherited a squad that is what it is; the solution has to come from us." In the same interview he played down expectations for the January window. 📉 Marseille lost five of their first six games in all competitions. In late September, journalist Loïc Tanzi said it would be a big surprise if Genesio were still in charge at Christmas. 📊 By the numbers • Genesio's contract: until 2028 • League position: 17th (3 points from 5 games) • First six games in all competitions: 5 defeats 🔭 Why it matters The club's public backing makes an immediate change unlikely. But if results do not improve, the mood can turn quickly. Marseille visit Troyes on Sunday 11 October at 8.45pm local time.
