Adidas to return as Marseille kit supplier a year early, says L'Équipe

📰 Cash-strapped Marseille look set for a welcome boost with Adidas returning a year early. 📌 Key points 👕 Adidas will make OM's kit from 2027-28, according to L'Équipe. ⏩ That is a year earlier than originally planned. 💶 The deal is estimated at €32-35m per season. 📈 The current Puma contract is worth about €20m a year. 🤐 The club has not confirmed the move. 📝 What happened 👕 L'Équipe reported on 28 October that Adidas will replace Puma as Marseille's kit supplier from the 2027-28 season. The switch announced in August had been planned for summer 2028. 🤝 The talks were between the two brands rather than with the club, with Adidas and Puma agreeing on compensation and on staff at Puma's club shops. Foot01 said an official announcement could come next week at an Adidas event in Marseille. 💶 The new deal is estimated at €32-35m a season. Puma, OM's supplier since 2018, pays a fixed €16m plus bonuses, around €20m a year in total. 🏛️ Adidas made Marseille's kit from 1974 to 2018, apart from the Ligue 2 years of 1994–1996. The extra income would matter for a club that is also looking for new investors. 📊 By the numbers • Estimated Adidas deal: €32-35m per season • Current Puma deal: €16m fixed plus bonuses, about €20m a year • Adidas's previous spell with OM: 1974–2018 🔭 Why it matters For a club that has to sell before it can buy, more than €10m extra a year is significant, although it only starts in 2027-28 and will not help in January. Marseille host Toulouse in Ligue 1 on 1 November.
