The pair shared the Ballon d'Or from 2008 to 2017 until Luka Modriฤ broke the run in 2018. Messi won his record eighth in 2023.

๐ For their countries, Messi won the 2021 and 2024 Copa Amรฉrica and the 2022 World Cup. Ronaldo captained Portugal to their first major title at Euro 2016 and to the 2019 and 2025 Nations League.
