Winless Man Utd visit Atletico without Shaw and Mainoo

📰 Without a win in four, Man Utd travel to Atletico Madrid without Shaw and Mainoo. 📌 Key points 🏟️ United play Atletico at the Metropolitano on 13 October. 🗣️ Carrick: "I understand people thinking it's a disaster but that's not in our mindset." 🚑 Shaw and Mainoo stayed in England after knocks against Spurs. 🔙 De Ligt is back in training after almost a year out. 🇰🇷 Lee Kang-in plays for Atletico. 📝 What happened 🎙️ At his press conference on 12 October, Carrick admitted: "We hoped for a lot more, we expected a lot more, and we are where we are." United have six points from six league games and have not won in four matches in all competitions. 🚑 Shaw and Mainoo were hurt in the 1-1 draw with Spurs and did not travel. Sesko, Dorgu and Mazraoui were not in Monday's training group either. Carrick said captain Bruno Fernandes still feels slight discomfort but the issue is not serious. 🔙 De Ligt could feature after his long absence, and Baleba may start after returning from injury. "We've got really good options in midfield," Carrick said. 🔥 Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson said: "I hope he doesn't get the sack, but he's in trouble," calling the trip to Madrid and Sunday's game at Leeds "a nightmare week". 📊 By the numbers • United's league record: one win in six, six points • United in all competitions: four without a win • Atletico: four straight wins, including 2-1 v Real Madrid • Ruled out: Shaw, Mainoo, Sesko, Dorgu, Mazraoui 👀 What to watch 🧱 A reshaped defence — Shaw's absence leaves left-back open again; a De Ligt cameo would be his first match in around 11 months. 🎯 Simeone's warning — "They apply a lot of pressure in the opposition's half. They're very aggressive," he said, adding that "the match will be long". 🇰🇷 Lee Kang-in — Atletico's September player of the month could face United. 🧭 Carrick's future — this game and Sunday's trip to Leeds could shape the debate over his job. 🔭 Why it matters United are on their worst league start since 1986-87 and the Old Trafford boos have started. Another defeat in Madrid would only add to the pressure before Leeds away on 18 October. Kick-off is 8pm UK time on 13 October.
