Konaté and Militão back in Real Madrid training to ease CB crisis

📰 Ibrahima Konaté and Éder Militão completed full training sessions, easing Real Madrid's centre-back crisis. 📌 Key points 🛡️ Konaté completed a full session with the squad on 6 October. 🩹 Konaté trained with a heavy bandage on his injured right knee. 🔙 Militão also finished the session with the group. 🟥 Huijsen is suspended for Villarreal after his derby red card. 🏟️ Villarreal visit the Bernabéu on 10 October. 📝 What happened 🛡️ Real Madrid continued their post-international-break preparations at Valdebebas on 6 October. Konaté, who injured a ligament in his right knee while with France, completed the whole session with the group, his knee heavily strapped. 🔙 Militão also trained fully with the squad. After missing the entire pre-season through injury, though, he still needs time to build up match fitness, so Konaté looks closer to a starting return. 🟥 José Mourinho's options at the back had been thin. Dean Huijsen is suspended after his red card in the 2-1 derby defeat to Atlético, and Raúl Asencio has had surgery. Antonio Rüdiger was the only fully fit senior centre-back, and Aurélien Tchouaméni had been touted as an emergency option. 🩺 Kylian Mbappé again worked alone rather than with the group, and his status for Villarreal remains unclear. 📊 By the numbers • Real Madrid are fourth in La Liga on 15 points after seven rounds • Six points behind leaders Barcelona (21) • Villarreal kick-off: 10 October, 9pm CEST 🔭 Why it matters Madrid face Villarreal (10 October), travel to Roma in the Champions League (14 October) and host Sevilla (18 October) before El Clásico at Camp Nou on 25 October. Six points behind Barcelona, they cannot afford more slips. If Konaté gets through the week without a setback, he is the favourite to partner Rüdiger. In a packed October, getting one centre-back back is a big boost.
