Kulusevski reportedly near Spurs return, with Man Utd trip possible
Post
๐ฐ Kulusevski, out for more than 500 days with a knee injury, could be back in a matchday squad after the international break, according to reports.
๐ Key points
๐ฉน He injured his right kneecap in May 2025.
๐ช He has had two operations, that summer and in March this year.
๐ He has been training fully with the team for the past few weeks.
๐๏ธ A return against Man Utd on the 10th or Coventry on the 17th is being mentioned.
๐ He is likely to start out as a substitute.
๐ What happened
๐ฉน Dejan Kulusevski injured his right kneecap in a collision with Marc Guรฉhi against Crystal Palace in May 2025. It was initially thought to be a minor knock, but his recovery kept dragging on. According to RotoWire, he had surgery on the kneecap that summer and then a second operation in March this year. In the meantime he missed the whole of the 2025/26 season and Sweden's World Cup.
๐ The latest news is positive. According to Last Word on Sports, citing Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, Kulusevski has completed all team training in recent weeks. RotoWire reported that he looked sharp in training this week and set up a goal for Kudus in a small-sided game. In training he has been tried not only on the right flank but also as a central attacking midfielder.
๐๏ธ Barring any major setbacks, he is expected to be in the squad for the trip to Man Utd on 10 October or the Coventry game on the 17th. Given how long he has been out, however, he is likely to start on the bench.
๐ Tottenham have scored just two goals in five league games and sit bottom of the table. Kulusevski has 25 goals and 30 assists in 146 games for Spurs, so his return could give their attack a lift.
๐ By the numbers
โข Time out: more than 500 days
โข Tottenham career: 146 games, 25 goals, 30 assists
โข Tottenham league goals this season: 2 in 5 games
๐ญ Why it matters
For a Tottenham side short of goals, Kulusevski is effectively like a new signing. But minor injuries are common after such a long layoff, so the club are not expected to rush him. The first hurdle is the trip to Man Utd on 10 October.
