📰 Spanish outlet AS has published a detailed breakdown of the €1.8bn new Camp Nou, which will eventually hold 105,000 fans. 📌 Key points 🏟️ Final capacity is 105,000, with completion targeted for Q1 2028 💰 AS puts the total cost at around €1.8bn 🏗️ The roof alone covers about 48,000 square metres on 92 columns 💎 9,400 premium seats are central to a hoped-for €350m extra a year 🔁 Barça will move to Montjuïc while the roof goes on 📝 What happened 🏗️ According to AS, the roof is the biggest single job. The compression ring supporting it needs 92 columns and around 3,200 tonnes of steel, with another 3,500 tonnes for cables, masts and lighting. Some 18,000 seats have to be removed temporarily during installation. 🏟️ The third tier alone holds more than 35,000 supporters and rises roughly 80 metres above the pitch. The roof will carry 18,000 square metres of solar panels, and around 3,500 screens will be installed around the ground. 💎 The VIP rings cover 33,000 square metres with 9,400 premium seats. Some 5,000 have already been sold, securing over €380m, and long-term VIP licences account for a further €700m. The club expects around €350m more per year than the old stadium generated. 🔁 Treasurer Ferran Olivé told the general assembly that Barça will play at the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc from June 2027 to January 2028 while the roof is fitted. ESPN reported that an extra €510m of financing has taken the overall bill to roughly €2bn. 📊 By the numbers • Final capacity: 105,000 (from 2028-29) • Cost: around €1.8bn (AS); roughly €2bn according to ESPN • Roof 48,000m² / 92 columns / about 3,200 tonnes of ring steel • 9,400 premium seats; around €350m extra revenue a year expected 🔭 Why it matters The new stadium is central to Barcelona's financial recovery. The club plans to return in January 2028 with about 95,000 seats, reach 105,000 for 2028-29, and host the Champions League final there on 2 June 2029. Given the delays and rising costs so far, sticking to that timetable is the real test.
