📰 Sandro Tonali's agent has revealed that Roberto De Zerbi turning up at the midfielder's house was key to his move to Tottenham. 📌 Key points 🗣️ Agent Giuseppe Riso told the story on an Italian podcast 🏠 De Zerbi visited Tonali at home and said he needed him as a leader 💰 Spurs reportedly paid Newcastle around £100m for him ⚽ Tonali has played in all five league matches this season 📉 Tottenham are bottom of the table with two points from five games 📝 What happened 🗣️ Speaking on the Italian podcast 'Colpi da Maestro', Riso described Tottenham as a brave club willing to make decisions differently from others. 🏠 He said De Zerbi went to Tonali's house in person to tell him he was needed as a leader, and that the relationship with the head coach weighed heavily in the decision. 💰 Tonali joined from Newcastle this summer for a club-record fee, reported at around £100m. In De Zerbi's side he has been used as a box-to-box midfielder, a role many feel suits him better than his job at Newcastle. 📉 Results have not followed. On Italy duty, Tonali insisted the results were negative but the football was positive, adding that everything can change within ten days. 📊 By the numbers • Reported fee: around £100m • Tonali's league appearances: all five • Tottenham's record: two points from five games (bottom) • Games without scoring: four of five 🔭 Why it matters As a player De Zerbi personally chased, Tonali has become a symbol of whether the project works.
