📰 Former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is reportedly in talks over a free transfer to Getafe. 📌 Key points 🔄 Carvajal has been a free agent since his Madrid contract expired on 30 June. 📰 Spanish outlets ABC and AS report the talks with Getafe are well advanced. 📞 Getafe boss José Bordalás reportedly called him personally to explain his role. 💶 A deal would require Carvajal to accept a much lower salary. 🩺 Given his knee history, the medical is the biggest hurdle. 📝 What happened 🔄 The 34-year-old right-back's contract with Real Madrid ran out at the end of last season, and he has been without a club since the new campaign began. 📞 According to ABC and others, Getafe have opened serious talks with Carvajal. Bordalás is said to have phoned him personally to set out the role he would have in the squad. Carvajal is reportedly attracted by the chance to stay close to his home in Madrid and keep playing in LaLiga. 💶 There are obstacles. Carvajal would have to accept far lower wages than he earned at Madrid, and Getafe are checking whether they have room to register him under LaLiga's salary limit. After right-knee problems in recent seasons, the medical will also be crucial. 🏟️ Getafe are 11th with eight points from seven league games. Juggling the league, the Copa del Rey and the Conference League, Bordalás has wanted more depth. On the right, Getafe have the injured Kiko Femenía and Aston Villa loanee Andrés García. 📊 By the numbers • 450 Real Madrid first-team appearances, 14 goals • 27 trophies (six Champions Leagues, four LaLiga titles, two Copas del Rey) • Getafe 11th in LaLiga, eight points from seven games 🔭 Why it matters A Madrid academy product who won six Champions Leagues with the club could end up at another club in the Madrid region. If the deal goes through, he could face his old club later this season. Nothing has been signed yet. An official announcement would follow only once the medical and salary terms are settled.
