Naples mayor: 'Never seen a concrete proposal' for Napoli stadium

📰 The mayor of Naples has said publicly that he has not yet received a concrete proposal for Aurelio De Laurentiis's new stadium plan. 📌 Key points 🏟️ Mayor Manfredi said he has never seen a concrete proposal from the club. 🤝 He is not ideologically opposed to De Laurentiis investing. 🏙️ He said two stadiums in Naples would not be a problem. 🚗 Traffic, access, safety and environmental impact must be assessed. 👥 He noted a stadium draws 40,000 to 60,000 people each game. 📝 What happened 🏟️ Speaking on TeleVomero's Lente d'ingrandimento, Manfredi discussed De Laurentiis's idea of building a new stadium elsewhere in the city. 'I have never seen a concrete proposal from the club,' he said, adding that the city would evaluate one when it arrives. 🤝 He did not close the door. 'We are not ideologically opposed to any investment, least of all one by President De Laurentiis,' he said. Pointing to Rome's several stadiums, he added: 'Certainly it is compatible. We are a big city.' 🚗 But his conditions were clear. 'A stadium brings 40, 50 or 60 thousand people into an area every Sunday,' he said, with more midweek if Napoli are in Europe. 'Building a stadium is not simply drawing a circle on paper, but a very complex project,' he added, listing traffic, access, safety, liveability and environmental impact. 📊 By the numbers • Expected crowds: 40,000 to 60,000 per game (Manfredi) • Concrete proposals received by the city: none yet (per the mayor) 🔭 Why it matters On the same day in Milan, Inter and Milan unveiled their 71,500-seat Generali Stadium. Napoli also talk of a new ground, but by the mayor's account the project has not yet reached the first formal step. Whether the club present an actual design is the next thing to watch.
