Isak and Gakpo miss Liverpool training three days before Man City

📰 Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo were missing from Liverpool training three days before the visit of Manchester City. 📌 Key points 🚫 Isak and Gakpo did not train with the group on 8 October. 🩹 Isak hurt his thigh with Sweden; Gakpo his ankle with the Netherlands. ✅ Jérémy Jacquet, who had a hamstring strain, trained fully. 🇦🇷 Alexis Mac Allister also trained after returning from Argentina duty. 🎙️ Andoni Iraola will give a final update at his press conference on 9 October. 📝 What happened 🏋️ Liverpool began preparing for City at the AXA Training Centre, but neither Isak nor Gakpo was pictured with the group, in the gym or on the pitches. Isak withdrew from Sweden duty with a thigh problem, and Gakpo left the Netherlands squad with an ankle issue after the win over Serbia. ✅ There was better news elsewhere. Jacquet, who strained his left hamstring with France, was fully involved, and Mac Allister, the last Liverpool player to finish international duty, trained as normal. 🗣️ Iraola had said: "Now it's a matter of if they are going to recover in time to help us in the next game or not." Rush The Kop suggests 21-year-old Wales international Lewis Koumas could be an option. 📊 By the numbers • Isak: four goals in five league games • Gakpo: two goals and four assists in six games • Hugo Ekitike targets a December return 🔭 Why it matters With Ekitike out until December, losing Isak and Gakpo as well would badly blunt Liverpool's attack.
