Arsenal's Tzolis out two to three weeks after hamstring blow on duty
Post
๐ฐ Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis was substituted after just 18 minutes of Greece's match with a hamstring problem and is expected to be out for two to three weeks.
๐ Key points
๐ฉน Tzolis was taken off after 18 minutes against the Netherlands
๐ฃ๏ธ The Greece manager revealed the player initially refused to come off
๐๏ธ Local Greek reports expect him to miss two to three weeks
โฝ He looks all but certain to miss the Leeds game on the 10th
๐ Who fills the gap on the left wing remains an open question
๐ What happened
๐๏ธ Tzolis started for Greece in their 2-2 Nations League draw with the Netherlands in Thessaloniki on 1 October. But he felt a muscle problem in the 18th minute and was replaced by Masouras, so frustrated that he covered his face with his shirt as he walked to the bench.
๐ฃ๏ธ Greece manager Ivan Jovanoviฤ explained that Tzolis insisted he would not come off, but that he would not have signalled unless he had felt something, so he took him off himself. In other words, it was a precautionary decision to avoid a more serious injury.
๐ฉน Greek journalist Dimitris Manakos and outlets including Metro expect him to miss two to three weeks based on the initial diagnosis. Tzolis has left the national team and returned to London for detailed tests with Arsenal's medical staff.
๐ Tzolis joined from Club Brugge this summer as Trossard's replacement and has featured in all five league games. With Trossard and Martinelli gone, Arsenal are short of options on the left, and using Eze or Madueke there has been mooted.

๐ญ Why it matters
Losing a player who had been getting regular minutes out wide adds to Arteta's headaches. He is likely to miss the Leeds game on 10 October, and if it takes three weeks he could also miss Nottingham Forest on the 18th and the Champions League meeting with Lille/Bayern (21st). The exact return date depends on the results of Arsenal's further tests.
