Kane wins 124th cap, one away from Peter Shilton's England record

📰 If Bayern striker Harry Kane plays against Czechia at Wembley on the 6th, he will equal Peter Shilton's England appearance record (125 caps). 📌 Key points 🧢 Kane reached 124 caps in the 7-0 thrashing of Croatia. 🗓️ Just one second on the pitch against Czechia at Wembley on 6 October will take him to 125. 📜 The existing appearance record is goalkeeper Peter Shilton's 125. ⚽ Kane has 89 international goals, 36 more than Rooney in second. 📈 He has scored in all three games of this Nations League campaign. 📝 What happened ⚽ Kane scored twice away in Croatia on 3 October to lead England to a 7-0 win, and the game was his 124th international appearance. According to Yahoo Sports, playing against Czechia will see him match the 125 caps of Shilton, who played from 1970 to 1990. 📈 Kane, who made his debut in March 2015, has caught up in about ten years with a record Shilton built over 20. With 89 international goals he is far ahead of Rooney (53), and he has scored 31 for England since joining Bayern. 🗣️ Tuchel said Kane is a player driven by a strong hunger for moments when records are on the line. 🏆 England have six points from three Nations League games and are second in the group. Their only defeat was the 2-3 loss to Spain at Wembley. 📊 By the numbers • Kane's England caps: 124 (Shilton 125) • International goals: 89 (36 clear of Rooney in second) • England goals since joining Bayern: 31 • England's last 2 games: 9 scored, none conceded 👀 Things to watch 🎯 Kane equalling the record — one second on the pitch will make it 125. He looks certain to feature, whether from the start or off the bench, and the question is whether he can extend his scoring run to four straight Nations League games. 🔁 Tuchel's rotation — according to Sports Mole and others, Konsa and Alex Scott have dropped out injured, and Nico O'Reilly had already left the squad. Alexander-Arnold and Lewis-Skelly, among others, are expected to get chances. 🩹 Struggling Czechia — Czechia are winless in six and have lost four in a row, and have not scored in three Nations League games. Krejčí is suspended after his red card against Spain. 📜 Head-to-head — according to Sports Mole, England are unbeaten at home against Czechia since 1998, with two wins and a draw. They also won 2-0 away in Prague on 30 September. 🔭 Why it matters Once Kane draws level with Shilton, every game he plays after that will set a new England appearance record. The Czechia game kicks off at 7.45pm (UK time) on 6 October, after which Kane will return to Bayern and rejoin the league schedule.
