Spurs reportedly ready club-record €130m January bid for Alvarez

📰 A Spanish report claims Tottenham are preparing a €130m January bid for Julián Alvarez. It is a single-source story with no confirmation from either club. 📌 Key points 💰 El Nacional says Spurs are readying a €130m offer. 📈 It would smash Tottenham's transfer record. 🔁 A clause allowing a future Barcelona move has been mentioned. 🧢 Diego Simeone regards Alvarez as a key man. 🗓️ Neither club has announced any talks. 📝 What happened 💬 The claim comes from Spanish outlet El Nacional, picked up by Transfer News Live on X and then by Spurs fan site To The Lane And Back and Sports Illustrated. It says Tottenham are prepared to offer Atlético Madrid striker Alvarez €130m (about £113m) in January. 🔁 According to the report, Spurs could try to persuade him with a contract clause allowing a future move to Barcelona, a club he is said to be keen on. 🧢 The obstacle is obvious. To The Lane And Back notes that Simeone sees Alvarez as a cornerstone of his Madrid project, making a January exit very difficult. The World Cup-winning Argentine already knows English football from his time at Manchester City. ⚽ Spurs' need is pressing. Under Roberto De Zerbi they have two draws and three defeats from five league games and sit bottom, and calls for a proven goalscorer keep growing. 📊 By the numbers • Reported bid: €130m (about £113m) • Spurs' league record: 2 draws, 3 defeats, 2 points (bottom) 🔭 Why it matters Both the fee and the Barcelona clause come from one outlet, so the story should be treated with caution. Atlético's willingness to sell a key forward mid-season is the real hurdle, and the truth will only emerge when the January window opens. First, Spurs go to Manchester United on 10 October still looking for a first win.
