Ancelotti's Brazil sweat v Australia twice: a draw, then a 4-2 win

📰 Brazil drew 1-1 and then won 4-2 on their tour of Australia, but neither game came easily. 📌 Key points 🗓️ The first friendly in Townsville on 25 September ended 1-1. ⚽ Substitute Rayan headed a stoppage-time equaliser with almost the last touch. 🔁 In Brisbane on 29 September Brazil came from 2-1 down to win 4-2. 🏟️ A crowd of 52,423 set a record for football at Lang Park. 🗣️ Carlo Ancelotti was seen screaming at the assistant referee in the second game. 📝 What happened 🎯 In Townsville, Nestory Irankunda's superb second-half free kick put Australia ahead. Brazil had an Estêvão goal ruled out by VAR for a Bruno Guimarães foul on Harry Souttar, and it took substitute Rayan's header with the last touch of the game to rescue a 1-1 draw. Australia were denied only their second ever win over Brazil. 🔁 In Brisbane, Vanderson scored after three minutes, but Alessandro Circati (28') and Connor Metcalfe (33') turned the game around for the Socceroos. Raphinha levelled from the spot just before half-time after a lengthy VAR review, then Bruno Guimarães (69') and Vinícius Júnior (80', penalty) sealed a 4-2 win. 🗣️ Ancelotti was caught on camera shouting in the face of the assistant referee over a decision, and local commentators described Brazil's second penalty as "fractional". 📊 By the numbers • Game 1 (25 Sept, Townsville): Australia 1-1 Brazil — Irankunda (free kick), Rayan (stoppage-time header) • Game 2 (29 Sept, Brisbane): Australia 2-4 Brazil — Vanderson 3', Raphinha 45' (pen), Guimarães 69', Vinícius 80' (pen) • Brisbane crowd: 52,423, a record for football at the venue 🔭 Why it matters At the start of a new cycle after the World Cup, Brazil took a win and a draw, but trailed in both games against Australia. Set pieces and defensive concentration remain issues, though it is encouraging that Vinícius, Raphinha and Guimarães delivered when it mattered. Ancelotti's outburst showed just how tight the games were.
