Inter lose Curtis Jones for around three weeks with thigh injury
Post
📰 Inter have lost midfielder Curtis Jones for around three weeks just as Serie A resumes.
📌 Key points
🩺 Jones has a myofascial strain in his right thigh adductor.
⏳ He is expected to be out for around three weeks, roughly 20 days.
📅 He is set to miss six games, starting with Parma on 10 October.
🎯 The Milan derby on 31 October is a realistic return target.
🔄 Croatia international Petar Sučić is tipped to replace him.
📝 What happened
🏥 Jones underwent tests at the Humanitas Institute on the morning of 8 October. They showed a myofascial strain in the adductor of his right thigh, with around three weeks needed to recover.
🏋️ Jones joined Inter from Liverpool this summer. After a slow start in Serie A he stayed at the training ground during the international break to work on his fitness, which makes the setback all the more frustrating.
🗓️ According to Corriere dello Sport, he will miss Parma (home), Club Brugge (Champions League, home), Bologna (away), Shakhtar Donetsk (Champions League, home), Venezia (away) and Fiorentina (home).
🔄 La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Cristian Chivu is likely to keep Nicolò Barella and Hakan Çalhanoğlu together and hand the third spot to Sučić, who is fresher than Piotr Zieliński after the Pole started all four of his country's games. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aleksandar Stanković should also get chances.
📊 By the numbers
• Expected absence: around three weeks (about 20 days)
• Games set to be missed: six (two in the Champions League)
• Inter: 13 points, level with Roma and Lazio at the top
• Jones is 25
🔭 Why it matters
Joint leaders Inter face a packed October across Serie A and the Champions League. Losing a rotation option in midfield puts the spotlight on Sučić and Stanković. Inter resume against Parma at San Siro on 10 October and host Club Brugge in the Champions League on 13 October.
