📰 After Manchester City's guilty verdict, the question is how much Tottenham, who reserved their right to compensation, could claim. 📌 Key points ⚖️ City were found guilty on 114 of the 115 financial charges. 📜 Spurs reserved their rights alongside Arsenal, United and Liverpool in September 2024. 💷 ESPN puts Spurs' lost Champions League revenue at £120m or more. 🏟️ A May 2010 win at City alone was valued at £30m or more. 🤔 With Levy gone, the new leadership's appetite for legal action is unclear. 📝 What happened 🗞️ On 6 October ESPN looked at how the leading clubs view the City verdict. Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham reserved their right to seek damages in September 2024 in case City were found guilty. 💷 According to ESPN, Spurs were fighting for the top four throughout City's breach period, and the Champions League revenue they missed because City finished above them could reach at least £120m, separate from Premier League merit payments. The 1-0 win at City in May 2010 that sealed fourth place was valued at a minimum of £30m on its own. 🏢 The big variable is the change at the top. Daniel Levy, in charge since 2001, has stepped down, and the club is now run by Joe Lewis's family and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham. ESPN's sources said Levy would have pushed hard, but it is not certain the new regime feels the same. 🔗 Venkatesham worked at Arsenal during City's breach period, and Spurs have also hired several former City staff in recent years. 📊 By the numbers • City's guilty findings: 114 of 115 charges • ESPN estimate of Spurs' lost UCL revenue: £120m or more • Value of the May 2010 win at City: £30m or more • Reported maximum claim per club: around £200m 🔭 Why it matters Any claim can only be made once City's appeal process is complete. Even so, for a Spurs side bottom of the table, it is a long-term issue with a lot of money at stake. Tottenham visit Manchester United at Old Trafford on 10 October.
