Roma top Serie A after five games, Malen leads scorers with six goals

📰 Roma lead Serie A after five rounds, powered by six goals from Donyell Malen. 📌 Key points 📈 Roma have 13 points from four wins and a draw, top on goal difference. 🔁 Inter and Lazio are also on 13 points. ⚽ Malen leads the scoring chart with six goals in five games. 🏅 He was named Serie A Player of the Month for August–September. 🗣️ Gasperini said he would not be surprised if Malen challenged Higuaín's 36. 📝 What happened ⚽ Malen hit a hat-trick against Fiorentina on the opening weekend, a brace against Lecce the next, and scored in the 2-0 win at Torino in mid-September. 📈 Roma are unbeaten with 14 scored and three conceded; their only draw came against champions Inter. Inter (15-8) and Lazio (8-3) are level on points but behind on goal difference. 🏅 Serie A named Malen the first Player of the Month of 2026-27, with the trophy to be presented before the home game with Genoa on 17 October. He scored 14 in 18 games last season after joining from Aston Villa in January. 🗣️ Early in the season Gasperini said: "If he threatens Higuaín's record of 36, I wouldn't be surprised." Higuaín set it in 2015-16; Ciro Immobile matched it in 2019-20. 📊 By the numbers • Roma: W4 D1, 14 scored, 3 conceded, 13 points • Malen: six goals, two clear of the chasing pack on four • Serie A single-season record: 36 goals (Higuaín, Immobile) 🔭 Why it matters With three sides level, the first game back matters. Roma visit Como on 11 October. If Malen keeps this rate, 36 is not out of reach.
