Chelsea revive Cherki interest; €90m bid considered, report says
Post
📰 A Spanish report claims Chelsea are once again targeting Manchester City's Rayan Cherki.
📌 Key points
🔵 Chelsea have reportedly renewed their interest in Cherki.
🧠 Xabi Alonso is said to rate him highly.
💶 A bid of around €90m is reportedly being considered.
⚖️ City may have to sell after the guilty verdict on financial rules.
⚠️ The story comes from a single outlet, so reliability is low.
📝 What happened
🗞️ Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Chelsea are once again analysing a move for Cherki. Alonso reportedly wants to use him as a central midfielder or playmaker to improve ball circulation against deep defences.
🔁 Chelsea tried to sign Cherki when he was at Lyon. That deal broke down when Lyon asked for Andrey Santos to be included, and Cherki joined City in June 2025 for around €36.5m.
⚖️ Fichajes suggests City may need to sell key players after being found guilty of breaching financial rules. Chelsea reportedly plan to contact the player's camp directly in early 2027 if City are willing to sell.
👀 Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool are also said to be monitoring his contract situation.
📊 By the numbers
• Reported bid: around €90m
• Fee City paid in 2025: around €36.5m
• City contract: until June 2030
• Age: 23
🔭 Why it matters
With talk that City's appeal could trigger departures, the report suggests Chelsea could be first to move. For now it is only interest, with no formal offer.
